Light inside

The lantern is open at the top, so the light goes in from above. An ordinary tealight candle is fine, because concrete doesn’t burn. A battery LED tealight works too.

Safety and use

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Put a lantern with a candle on a stable, level, heat-resistant and non-flammable surface.
Keep it away from curtains and anything else that can catch fire, and out of reach of children and pets.
The lantern gets warm near the flame: blow out the candle and let the lantern cool before you lift it.
Outdoors and in windy spots, a battery LED light works well.
Concrete is heavy and brittle: lift the lantern from below, not by the ruffled rim or the face openings.
In winter, freezing water can crack the lantern: see the care guide.
